Scope: Adaptive reuse/renovation of 13,380 sf of office and studio space, accommodating 80 workstations and two film studios; common area; pantry; workstations; private offices; brainstorming rooms

Building 60 is part of the first wave of buildings completed on the Arsenal on the Charles campus. The renovation of an existing brick building and smokestack provides much-needed offices, collaborative spaces, and a video studio. A creative planning approach allowed for an open layout of workstations, glass enclosed meeting rooms, and offices. A double-height space at the first floor is used as common area for eating lunch, holding impromptu meetings, or informal workspace. The original exposed steel trusses were used to float meeting spaces, allowing occupants to have “tree houses” above office areas. The interior brick wall was stripped of paint to expose the original brick color and texture, and curved wood accent walls were utilized to create warmth. The video studio incorporates a lighting grid and green screen, and the mezzanine allows views into studio via an acoustical glass wall.
